Winter SCS WT303

This card was made for the challenge today over on SCS, which is to use silver on our creations.  I added silver to my creation with rhinestones.  The card measures 4 1/4" square.  I stamped the Snowflake Scroll in craft white on not quite navy and edged the main image with crafrt white. Winter wording sentiment stamped in black, cut out, lightly sponged with not quite navy and put on dimensionals.  Papers:  gray, black, white, not quite navy.  All stamps are from DRS Designs and the Winter Wording Sentiment is a sneak peek-released Jan. 1st.
Have a lovely Thursday!

Merry Christmas!

Only a few more days until Christmas!  Can I say yikes?!!!!  I have been so sick that I have not done much in the way of preparation.  However, I've decided that what gets done, gets done.
I had this fun candy canes image from DRS Designs sitting lonely on my desk, so I decided to put it on a card!  I stamped the image in black and clear embossed and then colored the candy canes with cherry cobbler.  the bow was colored with old olive, cut out and then I applied chrystal effects.  Placed the candy canes on dimensionals.

Big News

I decided I need to start participating in a variety of ways to get the creative juices flowing.  I went to Mark's Finest Papers  blog and decided to do their Speedy's Friends Challenge and played in their paper piecing challenge.  I used the Chicken Scratch Set from MFP and had quite a bit of fun putting this together.  I did some MAJOR paper piecing.  I stamped the chicken in the basket twice........and though you can't tell here, the chicken is on dimensionals....so is the dude outside of the basket.  The chickens in the circles are stamped in cajun craze and marina mist is sponged on then I put crystal effects on the top of them.  My sister has a ton of hens and chicks...this will go to her in her Christmas package!
Thanks and have a great day!

SCS WT301 All that glitters for you!

Happy Thursday everyone!  I am battling a cold and I certainly don't feel like doing the chores around the house!  It is much easier to sit on my behind and play in the craft room!  The challenge over on SCS today was to add glitter in any fashion to our creations.  This entire card shimmers!  I stamped the triple tree with snow from DRS Designs in garden green and embossed with hologram high-lights, painted the snow in with angel wing shimmerz paint, brayed and sponged on baja breeze for the sky, sprayed black layer with a thick coat of gold shimmer spray, sprayed main image with fine coat of gold shimmer spray, added gold glitter ep to tag which was handwritten and lastly the ribbon is shimmery as well!
Papers:  kraft, black and always artichoke
Thanks for peeking!

The Joys of Christmas

Good day to everyone today!!  Of all my Christmas cards to date, I think this is one of my favorites.  I love this Snow Tree with Fence stamp from DRS Designs.  It is beautiful and so much can be done with it.  I think it goes perfectly with the new Joy of Christmas Greeting from DRS as well.
Onto the the making of the card!  I stamped the image with noir black and colored the tree in with crumb cake and the fence posts with close to cocoa.  I masked off the sun and the snow and brayered colors in this order:  apricot appeal, pink and not quite navy.  Next, I removed masks and sponged apricot appeal in for the sun.  Added some gel pen snow and angel wing shimmerz on tree limbs.  I colored in the snow with angel wing shimmerz paint.  Sponged around the edges of the top portion.
Paper:  white, black, gray, not quite navy
Ink:  black, close to cocoa, crumb cake, apricot appeal, pink, not quite navy
Accessories:  brayer, white gel pen, shimmerz paint, dimensionals, ribbon, half pearls.

Thanks so much for checking it out and have a great day!

Yeah!!!  Back to stamping.  I've been away from stamping for about a week.  I went to Dallas with my daughter MacKenna for a college showcase soccer tourney.  It all turned out delightfully.  She played outstanding and has some college coaches interested in her.  Onto my creation today!  My fellow designer from DRS Designs (Julie) hosted today's TLC over on SCS which is the faux tile technique.  It was quite fun....and next time I would score my lines deeper.  I used our new release Three Wisemen Peace and the starry background
Inks:  burnt umber, not quite navy, cherry cobbler
Accessories:  sponge, Scor-pal, ribbon, rhinestones, glitter pen, dimensionals

SCS...CAS93 Shine on harvest moon...

Good Monday all!  I'm a bit sleepy this morning as our Mac was whacky for my dd doing some schoolwork.  It was so crazy, we were laughing hysterically. We finally gave up and hit the sack.  Had to wake up before the crack of dawn for other dd to get to swim practice..........in the pool by 5:30!  Ugh.
On to the card.  The CAS is a sketch challenge today over on SCS.  I used DRS Designs single fall tree and Shine on harvest moon greeting.  This came together quickly.  I stamped the tree in burnt sienna and used a circle punch to cut it out.  Masked moon and brayed burnt sienna on.  Sponged apricot appeal onto moon and a smidge of burnt sienna too.  Sponged black around edges.  Framed image with black scalloped circle.  Added some ribbon and rhinestones.
Thanks for looking!

Fall is Right on Time!

Good Friday everyone!  Yeah!!!!  This card was made using DRS Designs large scarecrow, Scarecrows and Corn Rows Greeting, Vicki's Versatile background, Add a Fence and Brush Wheat.  I decided to make this a 5 x 7 card so that I could fit the entire scene I wanted with the sentiment on the outside of the card as well.  I used Yasutomo pearlescent watercolor paints on watercolor paper and then paper pieced the nose, part of the hat and the patch on the hat. I stamped the post that he's perced on with Vicki's Versatile BG and put on dimensionals.  The fence was stamped 3 times, colored, cut out and put on dimensionals as well. I stamped the brush wheat with more mustard and garden green and stamped several times to make it look like the scarecrow is in a farmer's field.  Used a scallop circle and baja breeze to sponge on the sky and masked off for the sun and added a bit of yellow for the sun.  Used small dauber to add garden green between fence posts.  Lastly embossing folder used on marina mist layer to add some texture.
Paper:  kraft, hazelnut tan, parchment, watercolor
Accessories:  dimensionals, linen thread on scarecrow hat, pearlescent watercolor paints, scalloped circle

Thanks for taking a peek! Have a wonderful weekend.

I made these two cards for the CAS challenge over on SCS today.  The challenge is to make a sympathy card.  I need to get a move on as I am participating in a craft fair this weekend!  These cards were really quick.  The fern was stamped in more mustard and the sentiment in early expresso.  Added some BG half pearls and done.
I stamped the images and sentiment in early expresso, shaded with blushing bride and added blushing bride and river rock to dragonfly.  Also added some shimmer paint to dragonfly.  A ribbon and that's all she wrote.

SCS A fall day by the lake QFTD33

The Queen for the day over on SCS is Broom.  What a wonderful gallery chocked full of a great variety of beautiful creations.  I chose to case this card of hers which is kind of a REPEAT CASE.  Guess that says something nice about the original artist (Zindorf).
I used a kraft card baske, SU! dp, more mustard, black and white papers
Ink:  tempting turqouise, black, more mustard, pumpkin pie, ruby red
Sponges, masking with sticky notes, scallop circle for masking the sky, clear ep on tree and leaves, dimensionals and lace.
Have a great weekend!

SCS F4A36 using paper piecing

Okay, I realize this may not look like paper piecing, but I promise, I used that same dp as the edge punch:)  I stamped the trees in craft white and embossed with white ep.  I sprayed smooch spritz on white paper and tore it to look like some hills.  I got my fingers so completely covered with spritz, I wiped them on the sky...of course it isn't evident in this photo!
Have a great day!

Another SCS challenge card

Another card for the SCS ways to use it challenge today to use a frame. I framed the sentiment again. Wasn't crazy about this..though it turned out better than I thought.  White, hunter green and SU! dp papers, DRS designs snowflake background stamp, snowflake punch, scalloped oval punches, ribbon, dimensionals, hologram highlights embossing powder.

SCS WT294 to use a frame

WT294-to use a frame.  As my friend Cheryl would say, "Super Simony Simple"......used DRS designs pine bough stamped in black and added poppy parade berries with marker.
The challenge today was to use a frame on the card. I framed the sentiment.

SCS sketch challenge SC304

Good day!  I decided to continue with the Christmas card theme...though I'd really like to keep fall around:)
I used DRS Designs pine bough and stepping back in time stamps.  Inked the sentiment in black and inked the pine bough with soft suede and always artichoke....stamped off and then stamped onto sentiment.  Weathered all edges and sponged chocolate chip around them.  Buttons and embroidery thread for interest and some fancy lace/ribbon, too.  Lastly, I did little dots with the glue pen around the main panel and glittered it up.  As usual, you can't see the glitter in the photo:)  Try to imagine it!

DRS Designs By Invitation Only

Last week DRS designs invited me to choose 1-3 stamps from their website that I could use to make a card.  I chose 3 stamps:  Pine bough, Snow background and Stepping back in time.  I inked up the pine bough with always artichoke and early expresso, the sentiment was inked in noir black and clear embossed.  I added the snow background with craft white and embossed with irredscent ice ep.  Unfortunately, the photo doesn't capture how sparkly the snow is.  Next, I brayered with soft sky from left top corner to bottom right corner and then brayered not quite navy in the same fashion.  I sponged cherry cobbler around the edges.  Papers used;  cherry cobbler, white, always artichoke and black.  Main image put up on dimensionals and Basic Grey square rhinestones used.  A black satin ribbon tab added as well.  Thanks for looking!

Today's CAS90 challenge over on Splitcoaststampers was to use gingham or checks.  I have had this ribbon from MFP's a year this month and hadn't touched it.  I have decided that it will work wonderfully for some Christmas cards that I need to get busy making!  This didn't turn out quite as clean and simple as I'd planned but I am happy with the result.  I stamped the window, colorred it, cut it out and put it on dimensionals.  I used a scallop circle mask to make clouds in the sky.  Embroidery thread was used to add the sentiment tag.  Thanks for looking and have a glorious day!

Hello All!

I was chosen...by invitation only, to make a card for DRS Designs!!!  I chose 3 stamps from their wonderful website and am waiting for them to arrive in the mail so that I can make the card!  Woo hoooooo.  Looking forward to it.

Have a grand day!

SCS inspiration challenge 255

This was a fun challenge.  I chose this as my inspiration: http://postercabaret.com/redforestartprintbythecricketpress.aspx
Neat website.  I used the trees from MFP'S Stinky situation and only inked up what I wanted to use with a marker.  The wolf is from SU! Nature Silhouettes and the wood background on base of card is from ODBD.  I had a lot of fun with this but couldn't decide on a sentiment.  I masked off the ground with a sticky note.  Used a versamaker to clear emboss the trees and make little snow spots, sponged ridinghood red on for the sky.  Gray ink was used for the ground...though it looks a bit green-weird!
Thanks for checking it out and have a great day!

Bev Doolittle wanna be

Playing around with new toys from Marks' Finest Papers. These trees remind me so much of Bev Doolittle. She is an awesome artist. I used the aspen trees from the "Stinky situation" stamp set and stamped them in burnt umber and colored with metallic rub-on in a frosty white. I used some blue metallic rub-on for the sky between the trees.  The horses are SU! Wanted.  Some cut up twine and an antique brad were added as well.
I think this is a great male card.

Enjoy the journey SCS299 sketch challenge

Made this for the sketch challenge SC299 over on Splitcoast Stampers.  I tweaked the sketch a bit as I LOVE this paper and wanted to be able to showcase the flowers as much as possible.  I did the faux linen technique on the skinny vertical panel and the sentiment panel.  The vertical panel looks so similar to the dp (I just might have to make some more!).  After coloring a couple of the flowers from Inspired by Nature with markers, I cut them out and popped them up.  Popped the sentiment up, too and added some giant brads and a touch of glitter on a few of the flowers.  Isn't this paper yummy?

Happy Birthday Amy!

I made this for the SCS challenges F4A28 to use something aviary on your card and colors we don't use much.  I pretty much use all the colors.  Stamp set:  Punch potpourri, dimensionals, shimmerz paint on flowers, tag, linen thread, embossing folder, fabric, lacey edge punch, antique brad, brad...dp.  Ink:  marina mist, river rock, crushed curry, tangerine tango, cajun craze, black...Paper: black, dp, always artichoke, cajun craze.
This was fun to make...I hope she likes it.

Almost Time for the Granny panties!

I made this for Kitty, my neighbor.  She will soon be a grandma!  Yikes.  I told her last evening (went on bike ride with her) that I am not ready to get older.  I guess it's all a state of mind!
I made this a 5 1/4" square card using pretty in pink, black and BG Nook and Pantry dp.  The stamp set is from Craft Lounge and the bg stamp is Sprinkles from SU!.  Colored with more mustard, so saffron, blush, baja breeze, cajun craze, black, close to cocoa, going gray.

Monday, August 30, 2010

Yeah, baby!

I found out the other evening that our neighbor and old babysitter is pregnant!  What an exciting time for Stephanie and her husband.  Also, exciting for our friends-the new grandparents.  I will be making a card for them next.
Stamp sets:  Love Bug, A Little Love
Accessories:  SU! retired dp, ribbon, crimper, dimensionals, photo corner punch, button, thread, square punches

I have decided that there are not enough hours in the day.  I need to remember to enjoy every moment!  I took time out this evening and went for a bike ride with my neighbor (Kitty-the grandma to be) on my new cruiser bike.  Love it and it was nice to be together.
Ways to Use it Challenge on SCS 8/30/10
Made for todays' technique lovers' challenge which was to use recycled cardboard in our creation.  It was a lot of fun.  Thanks to Joan Ervin for being so clever!
I fashioned a piece of cardboard the size and shape I wanted and then applied acrylic paint to the stamp and stamped onto my CB.  I heat set it to hurry things along.  Stamped butterfly in black and cut out and separated the layers....very cool look..much better IRL.  A bit of glitter, a button, some thread and some sponging and weathering helped.  Also used embossing folder on garden green layer.
