Mountain Plains Crafters Summer Challenge

Welcome to the Mountain Plains Crafters Summer Challenge!  You have not one, but two choices; go nautical or go patriotic with your creation.  It's that time of season and we want you to choose whichever theme strikes your fancy.   Create a craft project (card, layout, DIY, etc.) and scroll to the bottom of this post for the InLinkz to link up.  We do have a few house rules, so read those at the bottom as well.

Before you read further, please visit May Arts Ribbon on Facebook and tell them "thanks for sponsoring the challenge at MPC!"  You might wish to follow them as well.  There's always something fun going on over there and lots of crafty inspiration as well.

**Please leave comments on all the design team creations.  It's very much appreciated!  They work hard and all they get are dog biscuits!  Well, that and ribbon.

This challenge will require a url which means you need to link your project up using a blog, a photo hosting site, whatever contains a direct http link to your creation.  If using a Facebook link, your page will need to be on public settings.  We need to be able to see that it was created new.  Backlinking is not allowed.  What does that mean?  That means if you are linking a project you published 2 days ago, a week ago, a year ago...that's backlinking.  We strive to be fair to everyone.

The prize?  A sampling of brand new patriotic/nautical ribbon from some of May Arts Ribbons new releases.  Plus, we just might throw in a few little extra crafty items as well.

Challenge begins 6/25/15 at 1:00 am ET and ends 7/4/15 at 1:00 am ET (Limit of 2 entries).
Winner will be announced late on July 4th.  Happy Independence Day!

Now check out the Design Team's creations and visit their blogs to be inspired and leave some love.
For my first card, I used MFP's Island Life. For the sand, I used SU! Itty bitty backgrounds I stamped in noir black and masking for the different areas using sage shadow, sahara sand, cantaloupe, soft sky and summer sun..I sponged the colors on. Grasses done in old olive and a brown roof...the light house was colored with real red. I cut the beautiful ribbon by May Arts ribbon in half to make it fit the card. I love the way this particular ribbon lends itself to a nautical theme. Instead of a bow, I tied it into a bow and then cut the loops and frayed it. I used a stick pin with a pearl and a shell to complete the embellies. The sentiment was stamped and punched and put on dimensionals. Entire image is on dimensionals. The image and card base are white card stock and the red and dark brown are from Graphic 45 French country collection.

For this fun monochromatic creation, I used this fabulous ribbon from May Arts ribbon, cinched it in the center and put my anchor embellie that I made by stamping in versamark, embossed in pewter, fussy cut and added heavy twine to it. The stamp set is The Open Sea by SU! My papers are white and the blue is from Graphic 45 French Country collection. No sentiment yet as I don't know for sure what I will be using it for!

Please head over to Mountain Plains Crafters and play along!

  10. Dang woman...you do some amazing stuff. That sand looks so real. I'm still confused how you did it with SU stamps. And the anchor looks like a real metal embellie. So cute.
