Mixed Media Mojo February Challenge~Red with a twist~wings/Spring coffee lover's blog hop

Happy Saturday!!! Yeah, I am spending it in my craft room listening to Pink radio on Pandora and thoroughly enjoying myself. I am arriving to the mixed media February challenge at the very, very end...but I wanted to submit this! Their challenge for February was red and wings for a twist. I am also submitting this to the Spring Coffee lover's blog hop .
I took some fun Teresa Collin stationary noted dp, the coffee encyclopedia page and some dark brown cardstock to create this. First, I wrinkled my encyclopedia page and then dragged distressed linen ink over it. The images are from an old Flourishes stamp set. I embossed the steam in brown. I chose some fun dp from the 6 x 6 pack to stamp the cup in versamark and emboss in brown, cut it out and paper pieced onto the encyclopedia page. The saucer was another piece of dp from the pack as well as the sentiment...they were both dragged through the linen ink pad. The sentiment edge was dragged through poppy parade as was the encyclopedia piece. I managed to get the wings in for the mixed media mojo challenge by adding a dragonfly brad at the top of the steam. A ribbon tab and a yummy, big chocolate ribbon. I used my craft knife to cut holes for the ribbon on either side of the cup. The red layer was embossed with the dots folder though it is hard to see here.
Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

Mixed Media Canvas for my daughter

Happy Day! I am posting this creation as I realized I never shared it anywhere! I decided to make my daughter a mixed media canvas. Bailey is an incredible soccer player/athlete, but she also has this awesome girlie side to her. My friend shared this tutorial with me, Vintage dress mixed media canvas.  Lots of love and time went into this and I love the way it came out...so does Bailey!
I started my randomly painting my 10 x 10 canvas with olive and moss green acrylic paints. Next I took some ripped designer paper and some encyclopedia paper. I should mention that I used the encyclopedia page about Marilyn Monroe...you can see it in the first pic below. I ripped the paper and sponged some antique linen and melon mambo on it before adhering all the paper with mod podge.
The sentiment was stamped and sponged on a ripped piece of dp...it is the Tim Holtz, Stamper's Anonymous line. The distressed chipboard was painted with white acrylic paint, stamped with a Unity bg stamp and then some pale pink distressed embossing powder was applied...then inked with melon mambo and adhered with mod podge. I chose some random beads to glue here and there. The dress was made and I inked the edges of it as well. The hanger was made from some jewelry wire and I lined the neckline of the dress with half pearls. I handmade and dyed the quilled flowers. I love using organza ribbon because I can heat it up and make it look vintage....which I love! It reacts to the heat super quickly! I added a strip of neutral lace to the bottom of the dress and it was adhered with mod podge, as well. Once everything was secured, I took my finger in my green paint and outlines some things. I used the leaf/bird punch from SU! to make some leaves out of the dp and and SU butterfly was stamped for interest. Sponged some distress linen around edges. Lastly, painted a layer of mod podge over everything and I called it good! Again, Bailey loved it.
Have a lovely day and stay warm wherever you are!

Mojo Monday sketch~ MOJO386

Happy Monday Morning! Super cold here in Colorado. A whooping 1 degree and 18 inches of snow. We need it. I am not complaining. I love the snow!

I was itching to craft when I woke up at 430 and decided to do the Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO386). It seems that my internal alarm will not let me get more than 6 hours. It is kind of nice as I make myself a cup of joe and head down to the craft room. I had fun with this sketch. I used some Bo Bunny dp.....though it isn't what it says it is. In fact, I am going to take a pic of the cover and then the paper inside so that you can see what I am talking about!

Imagine my surprise when I removed the tape from the paper pad and discovered the inside looked nothing like the front of the pad! Oh, well. If anyone knows what this dp is called, fill me in!

I used my quilled roses for the floral portion of the sketch and the bird/leaf punch from SU! to make the leaves. The sentiment stamp is from the Unity set Delightful little things. A couple scallop punches and some lace.
Card stock-white, dark brown and sunflower

Thanks for checking it out!

Mountain Plains Crafters and FPD sketch challenge

Hi there!  Thanks for visiting.  Over at Mountain Plains Crafters, we are hosting a Fancy Pants Designs sketch challenge and one random winner will get a fabulous Nautical Prize package.  All of us designers have created cards with the Nautical line by FPD and we would love for you to participate!
For my creation, I changed it into a square card (LOVE them) and used some of the papers included in the Nautical line. The plane is a sticker that I mounted on a piece of red 1 3/8" circle punched card stock, yellow nautical paper scallop punched and then a navy card stock scallop punch. The palm tree is from Mark's Finest Papers 2013 I need a vacation. The sentiment is in the Nautical line as well and is up on dimensional. So fun, thick rope twine and the burlap embossing folder....lastly, 3 little yellow brads for some interest.

Have a great day!
