Eclectic Ellapu....It's a man thing for the Purple team

Good day! Can you believe it is August already? Yikes. The challenge for the purple team over at Eclectic Ellapu for this month is "it's a man thing." I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to struggle with masculine creations. With that said, I am super happy with how this came out!
To begin, I used a piece of water color paper and mixing green and brown brushos, I painted the background of the main image panel....after I got the colors the way I wanted them, I let it dry. Next, I spritzed the panel with water to add interest. I am too impatient to wait for things to dry so I used my heat gun. I stamped the wheat in versamark and embossed in champagne. I framed the image with white and then black cardstock. The larger panel is a piece of dp from Tim Holtz. I had originally planned to use the opposite side of that dp...it has musical notes. However, I put the glue on that side like a ding-a-ling. This side works, too! To finish, I embellished with brown embroidery thread and a wooden button. The sentiment is from Unity Stamps.
I hope you can take the time and check out everyone's creations here and check out the Pink team's theme, too...which is floral.

Eclectic Ellapu~July life's a beach

I am on the purple team over at Eclectic Ellapu and for the month of July our theme is all about the beach.  This is actually a napkin that I dolled up with rose red, elegant eggplant and island indigo. 13 of us went to Belize in June. We rented a house and had the time of our lives. About a month before we went, my husband and I hosted a get together to finalize details of our trip. I bought these napkins. I sponged rose red on two of the shells and for the coral, I used the eggplant marker and traced over  the top....then using a damp tissue, lifted and softened the colors....getting it to bleed some. The edges were sponged with island indigo. To use the tissue, I peeled it until it was only one layer....and added it to a piece of encyclopedia paper that I glued onto white cardstock. Some island indigo ribbon and a bit of burlap for the beachy theme. The sentiment is from Unity's empowered words.
Head on over to Eclectic Ellapu and play along! We'd love to see your creations!

Eclectic Ellapu~~~June weddings

Our June challenge for the purple team over on the Eclectic Ellapu blog is weddings. I don't ever keep wedding cards stockpiled because I like to make them resemble the invitation. This one was difficult for me because pink is a lot like red when you're working with the ink....it gets EVERYWHERE!
I took pink passion and rubbed it on the bottom side of the rose EF and then ran it through my cuttlebug. I like that it looks a bit distressed. I ran another piece of vanilla paper through the rose ef for the base. Some lace, and a vintage button to embellish it with. The sentiment is from SU! Warmest Regards~it was stamped in burnt umber and punched out with the modern label punch and is put on dimensionals.

Eclectic Ellapu also has a second challenge this month and the theme is midsummer.  Please check out our challenge blog for more details on the challenge and to view the other cards that the design team member have created inspire you.

Eclectic Ellapu Design Team

I am proud to announce that I am now a member of the Eclectic Ellapu design team...the challenge for May is anything goes.
I must admit, I have my days mixed up.....I've been off a day for about a week now!!!
I made this card for a neighbor girls' graduation from high school. Tis the time of year to get the grad cards made!
I used a Kaisercraft paper pad~6 1/2" square called Kaleidoscope (LOVE it)
I embossed with this fun embossing folder and then added Inka Gold in green to the raised areas. Some gorgeous May Arts lace and my sentiment is an itty bitty from Unity called Dream Big. The sentiment was stamped with versamark and embossed in olive and then punched out with the modern label punch. I love using designer paper in my creations.
Head over to the Eclectic Ellapu blog and check out the other designers and please play along!

Endure SCS sketch challenge 589

I made this for the sketch challenge over on SCS
I used some Tim Holtz dp and got down to business. The butterflies were punched out with MS trio butterfly punch...the opposite side that image was stamped on. The image was stamped in burnt umber and then chalks were used to color it in. To set the chalk, I used Smooch pearlized top coat. Ran the paper through CB with tulip ef and then put Inka Gold metallic rub on it in silver. Rhinestone trails were added for the butterfly and the sentiment is on dimensionals.
MariLynn and I challenged one another to do the sketch and lace, dry embossing, chalks and punch/punches.

Have a great day!

GIU Blog Hop

Hi there and Happy Sunday!!!
Can I just say......

This morning I am third up in the Growing in Unity Blog hop. I was the GIU gal in early December. Our criteria for this hop is pretty open...use your favorite Unity. Well, I can pretty much say that ALL my Unity is my favorite. What led me to Unity in the beginning....long, long ago... their sentiments. So, I've decided to showcase a Donna Downey set called She. I made a card for each sentiment and these creations will go to my daughters. Not too embellished so that they can be mailed easily.
All the designer paper is from scraps as I am trying to purge!
My first card is also showcasing the December 2015 KOTM called Crazy, Tragic, Magic Life
