Growing in Unity~Day 5

I would like to begin this post with a big thank you to Unity for this fun opportunity to share our creations with all the other Unity lovers! It has been a good time.
I figured that I would end my week with a Christmas creation. I just got this set by Graciellie designs called Winter blessings. I think it is absolutely stunning and the sentiments are perfect. I stamped it in versamark on black card stock and embossed with sparkly white ep. I embossed the sentiment with just plain white. Punched the sentiment out and placed on dimensionals with a couple red rhinestones. I added red liquid pearls to the pine boughs. matted with red and a black card base. The inside was lined with white.

I truly appreciate all the kind words you all have left me this week. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and be kind...always!

Growing in Unity~Day 4

Hello and welcome to my blog for my fourth day as GIU! It has been fun and if I'm being honest, a bit crazy with all the Christmas happenings and a surgery hand that can't get wet!
I really am managing quite well, but have decided that I just can't do dishes and keep the hand dry...and I'm not putting on a glove!

My card today features the October 2017 SMAK kit Winter Wild and it is the reason I am now a SMAK member! I love this moose. My brother-in-law has a birthday in a few days and this will go to him. I used the March 2015 sentiment kit by Lisa Arana called ...sometimes I wonder. Inside sentiment is, "it is a great day for your birthday."
The gray card stock is textured...I stamped the moose in black, distressed edges by running edge of card stock through real red pad. The flannel embossing folder was run through the cuttlebug and they I sponged the ink on carefully and along edges as well. The word window for the sentiment and layered for interest. Kept it simple for a guy and for the sake of the postal service, too!
I'm enjoying getting to share my Unity creations...only one more day, boo hoo!

Growing in Unity~Day 3

Yeah, it's hump day!
I can't believe it is almost Christmas and here in Colorado, it's been in the 60's! I guess old man winter is coming though.
I'd also like to report that my hand is doing well. I am glad I did it.

My card today was done with the gorgeous set by Graciellie Designs called Amazing Things. Lovely image and wonderful sentiments. I used some designer paper from Tim Holtz and actually stamped the flower onto dp and then cut it out and colored with my fave...Zig watercolor brush markers. I also put some shimmery yellow paint on as an accent. Some gray ribbon, a few pearls on the sentiment and the perfect button. The other super cool thing that my gf MariLynn turned me onto was to use tea bag paper.....so, I did! The bg was matted in black and kraft card stock was used as the base.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!

Growing in Unity~day 2

Today is my second day as GIU girl and I'm happy to say that I was able to type this write up with both hands! I have some healing to do, but it will be so much better in the long run!
My card today was made using the December 2017 SMAK Kit~let it go. I stamped it in black and then used some Zig watercolor brush markers to paint the flowers and stems. I inked up the burlap embossing folder with old olive and then added some green stickles...that is the glitter you see. The flower petals were then painted with champagne glitter glaze. Some pearls, ribbon and a tiny burlap bow helped to finish it off. I used vanilla  and black card stock and I can't recall where the scrap of designer paper came from.
I hope everyone has a simply fabulous Tuesday!

GIU Girl~Day 1

Happy Monday and may this last week before Christmas find everyone healthy, happy and ready for some family time!
I was lucky enough to jump at the chance to fill in for this particular GIU week! I thank everyone over at Unity! Also, I thank MariLynn for giving me the heads up about the opening!

I need to take a break from all things Christmas related, so I decided to use this fabulous Graciellie set called spark. I stamped the butterfly in noir black and watercolored with Zig watercolor brush markers and softened with some water. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the embossing folder I used on the butterfly bg and the copper metallic bg. I rubbed Inka Gold in copper on the butterfly's bg. Stamped the sentiment and news flash!!!! You need to dry the ink on metallic paper! Using my leaf/bird punch from SU!, I punched some leafs and watercolored in the same blue...the matted layer was watercolored as well. Some rhinestones and some sheer ribbon that I distressed with the heat gun and we will call it finished!

Be sure to leave comments every day to be eligible to win a Unity prize pack! One winner will be picked at the end of the week at random.

I am having trigger finger surgery today. I know I am a bit crazy, but our deductible is met! I may be using all gift bags this Christmas!

Have a lovely day!

Winter coffee lover's blog hop

With my friend MariLynn's encouragement, I am adding a card to the winter coffee lover's blog hop. I am not getting too much craft time because I have a puppy and my craft room is in the basement...he can't come down here!
It was also MariLynn's idea to make this an easel card. So happy I did it this way and I wish I thought of this more often. So, thanks to my gf, MariLynn for all the encouragement and craft time together!

Unity Stay Cozy, itty bitty bg used by sentiment
rhinestone snowflakes from Unity (gift)
snowflake punch, edge punch, label punch
ribbon
BG green at heart
Orange stickles

A delicious day for lots of challenges!

Happy day! I did this card for several challenges. Splitcoaststampers color challenge CC628, Cupcake Inspiration challenge CIC400 (the challenge is birthday and you could also get inspiration from old challenges), CIC74, CIC104, CIC251 and CIC297...lastly, I used an image from Stamplorations illustrated by Shery Russ and it can be found here. Oops, I also did the MOJO Monday sketch challenge mojo490. The color challenge colors were old olive, rich razzleberry and pumpkin pie. I made a faux wood background with the orange and razzleberry and used a woodgrain embossing folder for the other layer. The cups were done in sahara sand and the coffee pots done in crumb cake and then a layer of shimmer paint in pale gold was painted on them.
I guess I should also explain how I do my faux wood bg....I just take the edge of the ink pad and swipe it the length of the card stock...until I get the look I want.
The butterfly and sentiment are from Unity's June 2014 KOTM..I stamped the butterfly in versamark and embossed it in black and used the challenge colors to ink it up. A bit of ribbon helped to finish it off.

I should've started the post off by saying that my girlfriend MariLynn and I got to do a bit of cyber crafting today and that's how ALL these challenges came about.....we did the same ones and you can see her gorgeous creation here. So fun to share in the challenges and see just how differently our projects turn out...LOVE!
Have a great day!

It is all about flowers and hearts! ~ mod squad challenge

Good day and gosh, it's been a long time. Well, I am going to try and get back to regular blog posting. Today I am starting out with the mod squad challenge which can be found here. It is all about hearts and flowers. I thought this set from Unity called Live what you love was the perfect set. I also used Unity's chicken wire for a background. The chicken wire behind the flowers was done in going gray and the bottom layer in black. I used my Zig real brush markers to color. A few sequins here and there. The heart was embossed in black and cut out. My ribbon was distressed by holding heat tool fairly quickly on it.
Have a great day!
